Where is Cairo Sphinx Airport?

"Cairo Sphinx Airport" refers to Sphinx International Airport (SPX), which is located on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road near Kerdasa in Giza Governorate — not inside Cairo itself, but on the western side of Greater Cairo, closer to Giza and 6th of October City.

It's a separate facility from Cairo International Airport (CAI), which sits on the opposite side of the city, roughly 46 km away. The two airports don't share a terminal or direct transfer link, so it's worth double-checking which one your flight actually uses.

Sphinx Airport was built to serve travellers heading to the Giza Plateau specifically — the Pyramids, the Sphinx monument and the Grand Egyptian Museum — cutting down on the transfer time compared to landing at the larger, more central Cairo hub.
