What is Cairo Sphinx Airport?

"Cairo Sphinx Airport" is a common way travellers refer to Sphinx International Airport (SPX) — an airport near Giza, Egypt, built to serve the Greater Cairo area and, specifically, travellers visiting the Giza Plateau.

It's a separate facility from Cairo International Airport (CAI), located on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road near Kerdasa in Giza Governorate, roughly 46 km from CAI on the opposite side of the city.

The airport handles both domestic connections within Egypt — to destinations like Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan — and a growing number of international and charter routes from carriers including Wizz Air, easyJet, Air Arabia and flydubai.
